We value and uphold the tradition of craft brewing.

We set high standards for our work because we want to brew truly great beer - with our hands and our hearts.

We're bringing back the beer style of yesteryear.

Driven by the idea of reviving Linzer Bier, we wanted not only to draw on tradition but also to bring it to life. Using historical recipes as a foundation, we have succeeded in recreating this traditional beer style. The idea to draw inspiration from the original 1921 recipe for the revival of Linzer Bier came from our Linz-based master brewer, Martin Simion.

Since its relaunch, our “Linzer Original” has been brewed under license at the Zipf Brewery in Upper Austria, in close collaboration between Linz-based master brewer Martin Simion and his colleague at Zipf, Christian Mayer.

At the Linzer Bier brewery in the Tabakfabrik, we are dedicated to the art of brewing in its many facets. Currently, we offer three distinctive varieties that are brewed and bottled directly at the Linz brewery: the unfiltered Linzer Zwickl, the hoppy Linzer Pale Ale, and the Linzer Edelstahl – a welcome gift to our “Steel City.” Seasonal and limited-edition specialties will be added in the future.

“With Linzer Bier, we wanted not only to revive a tradition, but also to win back the hearts of the people of Linz.”

We believe in regional sourcing.

When selecting raw materials, we naturally keep up with the times and are fully committed to regional sourcing. At the Linzer Bier brewery, we brew with hops from the Mühlviertel and winter barley from Upper Austria. In doing so, we strengthen local economic growth, forge a strong connection to the region, and lay the foundation for a new, sustainable tradition.

Martin Simion has been involved in the reintroduction of Linzer Bier from the very beginning – from the initial idea, through the development of the recipe, to the construction of the brewery. Martin Simion began his career at the Technical University of Munich in Weihenstephan. From there, his path took him through stints in England, Denmark, and Vienna, across Bavaria, and back to his hometown. With care and creativity, he develops new recipes for his hometown at the Linzer Bier brewery, in addition to his work as master brewer at the Kaltenhausen specialty brewery.
